Plane Carcass, Vìk.
On November 24, 1973, a Douglas Super DC-3 from the US Navy was forced to make an emergency landing on the secluded Sólheimasandur beach in southwestern Iceland. All the crew survived the impact and managed to get to safety, but the plane was abandoned on the spot. Today its carcass is still there where it crashed 40 years ago, and although it is not easy to reach, it is a fascinating place and a great subject for taking pictures.
